How it works
1 lakh = 1,00,000 rupees and 1 crore = 100 lakh = 1,00,00,000 rupees.
On the international scale, 1 million = 10 lakh and 1 billion = 100 crore.
Indian grouping puts a comma after the last three digits, then after every two digits (12,34,56,789). International grouping uses a comma every three digits (123,456,789).

How many lakhs make one crore?
100 lakhs make 1 crore. So 50 lakh is half a crore and 250 lakh is 2.5 crore.
Is 10 lakh equal to 1 million?
Yes. 10 lakh and 1 million are both 1,000,000 rupees. Only the comma placement differs: 10,00,000 vs 1,000,000.
How much is 1 billion in crore?
1 billion is 100 crore. 1 crore is 10 million.
Why do Indian numbers use commas differently?
