Average Calculator
How to use
- Paste or type your numbers. Separate them with commas, spaces or new lines, so a column copied from a spreadsheet works as is.
- The mean appears at the top, with median, mode, range, count and sum below it.
- For a weighted average, switch to Weighted and enter values and weights in matching order.
How it works
Mean = sum of all values ÷ number of values.
Median is the middle value after sorting. With an even count, it is the mean of the two middle values.
Mode is the value that appears most often. If every value appears once, there is no mode.
Weighted average = Σ(value × weight) ÷ Σ(weight).
FAQ
What is the difference between mean and median?
The mean adds everything and divides by the count, so one very large or small value pulls it. The median is just the middle value, so it is better for skewed data such as house prices or incomes.
Can I paste numbers from Excel or Google Sheets?
Yes. A copied column or row is separated by new lines or tabs, and both are accepted.
How do I calculate a weighted grade?
Enter each score as a value and its credit hours or percentage as the weight. For 90 (3 credits), 80 (2) and 70 (1), the weighted average is 83.33.
What happens to text in my list?
Anything that is not a number is skipped and listed under the input so you can check it.
